Project complete, careers beginning

And that’s a wrap! After a busy eight days of theory and practical training, Constructionarium Australia’s Victorian Big Build Bridge project has come to an end.

Alongside MACA as the leading contractor Constructionarium Australia welcomed its first Victorian cohort for 2023 with the support of Major Road Projects Victoria and WGA.

Participants were led through the construction methodology, communications, design, environmental assessment, tender, and build of a scale bridge whilst assigned different roles in various disciplines, including project management, safety, and engineering, to replicate the process of a real build.

Project Engineer and program mentor, Arsanious (Arthur) Hanna, said watching the cohort’s development during the build process was extremely rewarding.

“It is fantastic to see each participant finish their journey in the Constructionarium Australia project with a higher level of confidence, experience, and knowledge in all aspects of construction,” he said.

“The dynamic experience the project brings provides participants with a holistic understanding of a real build, which is a real advantage as they start their career journey.

“After eight days, from tender and cost to design and construction, these young engineers now have a holistic understanding and experience that will help them stand out from the crowd,” said Arthur.

MACA Graduate Engineer, Liam Lawrence, said the experience has been highly beneficial.

“The build has given me amazing insight into what a complete construction project entails, which is a rare experience to come by at the start of a career,” he said.

“Constructionarium Australia has given each of us the opportunity to grow while engaging in a real-life project, learning management and construction side by side with some of the most experienced engineers in the industry.

“I think this program is one that every young engineer should be a part of,” said Liam.

Congratulations to all involved! MACA is proud to collaborate with Constructionarium Australia, to provide long-term support to emerging professionals in the construction and infrastructure sector in Victoria.
