Glenn Wilkins recently celebrated a remarkable milestone with MACA, marking 15 years of dedicated service.
His journey began in 2008 when Glenn joined MACA as employee 79, starting as a Loader and Plant Operator at Jack Hills.
Over the past decade, Glenn has showcased his leadership skills, taking on various Supervisor roles at Mt Dove, Jack Hills, and Pardoo.
In 2018, Glenn assumed a more significant position as 2IC to the Project Manager at Abydos. His dedication and efforts were recognised when he was appointed Superintendent at multiple sites, including Gruyere, Ravensthorpe, DSO, Karlawinda, and Iron Bridge.
Reflecting on his 15-year journey, Glenn says his most enjoyable moments at MACA have been due to the people he’s worked with.
Glenn’s entry into the mining industry was via an agency, and he admits that he was uncertain about what to expect at the time. After a few months of FIFO work, Glenn made the transition to become a full-time employee. Recalling his progression within the company, Glenn acknowledged, “It was a team effort, fuelled by the support and encouragement of management on site, particularly from Asmir, who provided guidance and training.”
Offering advice to those considering a career in the industry, Glenn said hard work and commitment can go a long way.
“Stay focused, work hard, and maintain a balanced give-and-take relationship. Sustaining a long-term commitment to a company requires mutual loyalty and respect,” he said.
As a Superintendent, Glenn currently oversees teams across multiple projects within the crushing business. He describes the crushing industry as dynamic and as such the need to be flexible.
“The crushing business demands you to be adaptable. You set up operations quickly get the job done and repeat the process at each new site,” Glenn explained.
Looking ahead, Glenn is keen to continue his personal growth through training and coaching. His goal to become part of the senior management team within the crushing division.
Outside of work, Glenn enjoys fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and spending time with his family and friends.
Glenn’s career journey exemplifies the growth opportunities available at MACA. Congratulations to Glenn on a successful 15-year tenure at MACA.
