MACA at the Forefront of Leading Mining Technology

As the first resources operator in Australia to have the opportunity to trial one of two Liebherr R 9300 250t class excavators worldwide, MACA is renowned for setting its sights on innovative ways to deliver value to clients.

Hitting the ground at Capricorn Metals’ Karlawinda Gold Project, this menacing machine boasts a 16.3 cubic meter bucket, increased operational effectiveness, the latest technology, and a promising step towards future automation and zero emissions.

With works well underway at Karlawinda, the R 9300 is proving itself as best in class alongside the trusty pack of three R 9200’s, with a lesser fuel expenditure and an encouraging pass match for our onsite production goals.

Now almost three years into the contract with Capricorn Metals providing open pit mining services at Karlawinda, it’s not the first time MACA has trialled ground-breaking technology in the name of gold. In 2022, a collaboration with Safe AI and Position Partners saw the completion of a successful six-month trial with advanced autonomous haulage, signposting the future of safer and smarter operations.

MACA remains focused on operating with the driving force of continuous improvement.
