On Wednesday, 2 August, MACA participated in the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) Inspiring Girls Careers Forum at Optus Stadium.
The annual Forum is a unique careers event designed to showcase the resources industry to female secondary school students and to inspire them to follow in the footsteps of women who have achieved great personal and career success in the resources sector.
Senior Talent Acquisition Advisor Caitin Rosenberg and Talent Acquisition Advisor Shelby Emmett represented MACA at this unique career event. Caitlin said she was very proud to be involved in the event.
“It was an absolute pleasure speaking with young girls from various schools across WA and providing insight into real-life experiences within the resources sector. Hopefully, I will be able to give inspiration for future career choices.
“Shelby and I spoke with the girls about the different pathways ways into the mining and resource industry, challenges women face within the industry, initiatives MACA has in place to develop women and an overview of FIFO life, and the immense amount of knowledge gained from our personal experiences,” said Caitlin.
The half-day Forum had a jam-packed program that included various presentations, networking opportunities, speed careering, and a hands-on activity.
For Shelby, representing MACA at Forums such as this is rewarding, as she can share her learnings and experience.
“The event was a fantastic opportunity to get out of the office and speak to students about all the wonderful opportunities available to us in the mining industry and why we love what we do,” said Shelby.
