MACA has recently been recognised as a gold Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) skilled workplace by Mental Health First Aid Australia, for developing and embedding a sustainable and effective MHFA program.
Over the past year, the program has accredited 123 MACA employees to become Mental Health First Aiders. Once trained, these employees are equipped with the skills to provide confidential support to workmates who are struggling with their mental health.
General Manager HSEQT Lance Matthews said the recognition is a reflection of our efforts to continuously improve our workplace culture.
“Physical first aid is certainly widespread in the community, and we believe mental health first aid should be too.
“We spend a third of our lives at work, so having accessible Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace can make the world of difference for someone in need. The impact can be life-changing.
“Mental Health First Aid training has received such a positive response from participants, that we’ve now embedded the program into our broader people strategy and we will continue to offer all employees the opportunity to become mental health first aiders,” said Lance.
A huge thank you to Ben, from Beyond All Bounds, for facilitating the training sessions.
