MACA OPMS supports Longnest Village school

MACA OPMS recently extended its support with client Renaissance Minerals, to a small primary school in Longnest Village, situated approximately 30km away from the Okvau Gold Project in Cambodia.

Renaissance Minerals had committed to replacing an aging school building with two new classrooms for the village school. As the construction project neared completion, Panha Man, MACA OPMS HR advisor, along with Meth Chen, the RNS community officer, visited the school to explore additional ways in which we could assist. It was during this visit that they had the opportunity to speak with Sovannrith Chhel, the school’s Director (Principal), who expressed the need for a new toilet block as the previous contractor had built one that was poorly designed and unfinished.

MACA OPMS joined forces with Renaissance Minerals to search for a reputable contractor to rectify the situation and agreed to fund the construction of a new toilet block for the school.

MACA ALT Project Manager, Troy Smith, said initiatives like this embody our dedication to community engagement and showcase our ability to make a meaningful difference where it matters the most.

“At MACA, giving back to the community and supporting local non-profits is ingrained in our core values. It reflects who we are and our commitment to making a positive impact,” he said.

To ensure that the students have a conducive learning environment, MACA OPMS also provided desks, chairs, and whiteboards for the fit-out of the new classrooms.

“Our involvement with the Longnest Village school is an excellent example of how we love to give back and provide the necessary tools for our communities to create lasting change.”

“We are immensely proud of our team’s efforts in bringing about positive change and look forward to continuing to support the local community in the future,” he said.
