For the last 16 years, Tracey has supported the Purchasing department develop new systems and processes to improve efficiencies across the entire business.
“When I started my role, I couldn’t believe that purchase orders were written out manually on paper and payment to suppliers was by a cheque posted in the mail.
“So much has evolved over the years and being able to embrace change has been very rewarding,” she said.
Despite having spent over a decade and a half with MACA, no two days are the same for Tracey.
“It’s never groundhog day for me, my ‘typical day’ never stops changing which I appreciate. From assisting different departments to liaising with suppliers, I like to find different ways to achieve better outcomes for MACA,” she said.
Tracey’s career highlight was hard to pinpoint, but it’s the impact she has on others that stands out for her the most.
“Overall, my career highlights are becoming Senior Purchasing Officer and every day being able to help sites meet deadlines by sourcing products that aren’t from our existing suppliers.
“The many thank you emails I receive after assisting sites is also a weekly highlight of mine,” she said.
Tracey’s favourite saying, ‘there is no problem, only a solution’, is a true reflection of her work ethic.
“We all come across issues within our daily lives, but giving up and saying there is no solution, just doesn’t resonate with me.
“You find a way around the issue and come up with a solution, it may take a little longer, but the job gets done,” she said.
11 years ago, MACA began supporting the MACA Cancer Ride for Research. Tracey said it is this community spirit which helped formed her favourite memory of MACA.
“Supporting the MACA Cancer 200 riders, whilst dressed like a clown, along their journey is one of my fondest memories.
“Seeing and feeling the genuine care the event brings to so many people, that changes people’s lives, is an experience that is hard to forget,” said Tracey.
Tracey said the length of her stint with MACA can be put down to people.
“I am so grateful to have met so many genuine, caring and inspirational people over this journey. Developing successful working relationships with colleagues and suppliers is the most rewarding ‘pat on the back’ you can give yourself,” said Tracey.
When not at work, Tracey enjoys spending holidays at the family shack, gardening, watching West Coast Eagles win and throwing a few dad jokes at others.
“How do butchers introduce their wives?… ‘Meet Patty!’”, laughed Tracey.
When asked what the next five years look like for her, Tracey said she would be proud to be the first female to reach the 20-year milestone with MACA.
“If I could have my time again, I wish I started with MACA four years earlier than I did. We could be celebrating 20 years together,” said Tracey.
