Last week, our Crushing team attended a mental health fundraising lunch hosted by Striker and MAX Plant, in support of The Blue Tree Project.
The team enjoyed networking, woodfired pizza, and live music before picking up the paintbrush to contribute to the blue tree which will stand in MAX Plant’s manufacturing facility acting as a beacon of hope and conversation starter.
Kendall Whyte, founder and CEO of The Blue Tree Project, spoke of her motivation behind the initiative and how she has used her pain to help break down the stigma of mental health by giving dead trees a ‘blue lease on life’.
Operations Manager Crushing, Asmir Kursumovic, said it was fantastic to see the industry come together for such an important cause.
“Hearing first-hand from Kendall really stressed the importance that we can only make a difference together.
“Changing the way we talk about mental health is the first step to building a mentally healthy future, and that is everyone’s responsibility.”
“Thank you to the MAX Plant team for hosting such a wonderful event,” said Asmir.
Special guest and drag racing national champion, John Zappia, also made an appearance to raise funds for the cause.
The Blue Tree Project aims to spark difficult conversations about mental health, encouraging people to check in on one another and speak up when they find themselves battling mental health concerns.
