On Friday 6 May, we hosted our 7th annual Charity Golf Day in support of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Hosted at the picturesque Joondalup Resort, 216 golfers enjoyed an 18-hole Ambrose event.
During the day, golfers tested their skills at the putting green and hole-in-one competition for their chance to win a Toyota Yaris Cross, thanks to Kalamunda Toyota. Although no one took out the grand prize, there were some very impressive close calls.
After a fun filled day on the fairways, golfers headed to dinner where prizes were awarded to winning individuals and teams.
Well done to the Slater Gartrell team for winning first place, the team’s fourth time winning overall at the Charity Golf Day!
Following presentations, a fundraising auction and raffle was hosted by Area Manager Jim Cotton and General Manager Mining Tim Gooch who doubled as the evening’s auctioneer. Eight incredible auctions items, including a two-night stay at Smiths Beach Resort and AFL Corporate Suites at Optus Stadium, were quickly snapped up by the highest bidder.
In the evening, special guest speaker Professor Peter Leedman discussed the world-first cancer research breakthroughs the Perkins Institute is leading, and how this research is helping shape a future of kinder treatments and better health outcomes for the community.
Area Manager Jim Cotton said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of attendees.
“This year was the first time we played over all 27 holes at Joondalup and raised over $160,000 which has made it the most successful charity golf day we’ve hosted to date,” said Jim.
